Lot description:

German States
Augsburg. Free City "City View" Taler 1639 MS65 NGC, Augsburg mint, KM77, Dav-5039, Forster-278. With the name and titles of Ferdinand III. A soundly Gem Mint State survivor whose velvety, naturally stippled surfaces leave little room for stray marks to hide, making its certification within the series all the more remarkable. Save for a miniscule hairline scratch before the bust, next to no flaws whatever occur across the open expanses of the planchet, these remaining wholly mint fresh. Presently a full two grade points above the next finest--the Hesselgesser specimen, an MS63 at PCGS--and indisputably among the highest quality available to commerce.

Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 47, November 2007, Lot 28) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
