Colonial America, Massachusetts, Oak Tree Shilling, 1652, 4.60g, in masathusets oak tree with curved lower limbs, rev. new england an dom, year of issue and value in two lines (Crosby 2-D ; Noe 5) characteristic die flaws for type, otherwise good fine for issue.
Sydney P. Noe opines that the linear flaw exhibited at twelve o'clock is an indication of the original die shape; presumably one that was hexagonal rather than cylindrical in form.
