| Lot description: Mexico Chihuahua. Ferdinand VII "Royalist" 8 Reales 1813 CA-RP XF40 NGC, Chihuahua mint, KM123, Cal-1165. "Imagined Bust" type. Cast by the Royalist faction at the provisional Chihuahua mint using coins from Mexico City as the molds, these coins bear two countermarks on their obverse face: 1st being a "T" to attest that the royal treasury had received tax from the coin's production, and the 2nd being a pomegranate between the two Pillars of Heracles, signifying the local comptroller had also received compensation for its production. Although it may appear crude, this example is an incredibly fine example for the type with entirely preserved details and legends, it is sure to attract many a collector and specialist. Ex.
