| Lot description: KM# 123 (A&C# 1164) – 8 Reales 1812 Chihuahua Ca RP. VG. CANTO LISO. - Fundido en plata utilizando como molde un 8 Reales de busto armado de la ceca de México (KM# 110) sustituyendo la ceca, ensayador y el último digito en fecha por los correspondientes, contramarcas de validación por ambos lados del busto. Calidad estándar de fundido y evidente desgaste por circulación, relevante por carecer de cordón colonial en canto lo cual supone un gravísimo error que de haber sido detectado por autoridades habría sido acordonada o en su defecto refundida, algunas marquitas en canto aparentan vestigios de diseño, sin embargo, la curvatura y el superior diámetro de 41 milímetros ratifican la ausencia del mismo, algunas marcas y rayones poco relevantes, un piquete sobre el escudo, pátina oscura, 25.30 gramos ENGLISH: MEXICO. KM# 123 (A&C# 1164) – 8 Reales 1812 Chihuahua Ca RP. VG. Plain edge variety. Cast in silver using as a mold an 8 Reales "armored bust" from the Mexico City Mint (KM# 110), substituting the mintmark, assayer, and final digit of the date with the corresponding ones, with validation countermarks on both sides of the bust. Standard cast quality with evident circulation wear, notable for lacking the colonial edge cord, a most serious omission that, had it been detected by authorities, would have resulted in edge reeding or alternatively remelting. Some small marks on the edge appear to show vestiges of design; however, the curvature and larger diameter of 41 millimeters confirm its absence. A few minor marks and scratches, a small dig on the shield, dark patina. Weight 25.30 grams. Estimate: 12200 - 13500 MXN |  |
