Islamic Dynasties
Afsharid. Nadir Shah Abbasi AH 1148//1149 (1736/1737) AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Qazwin mint, A-2749.1, Mitch-2107. Type B, Julus type. The date AH 1148 in abjad chronogram. A scarce issue not handled since 2023, with a seemingly even scarcer mint.

A short-lived empire, the Ashfarids ruled for just 60 years from 1736 to 1796. The founder, Nadir Shah, deposed the last Safavid, a young Abbas III before expanding this newly formed empire to the furthest extent Iran had seen since the Sasanians, reaching from modern Iraq to Pakistan. The empire would collapse after Nadir Shah's death, with his grandson Sharokh Shah falling to Agha Muhammad Khan, the founder of the Qajar dynasty. www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
