| Lot description: SWEDEN. 18 Groschen, ND (1656)-NH. Elbing Mint. Karl X Gustav. NGC AU-55. KM-16; SB-16; Bruun-12134. Weight: 6.53 gms. Partially weakly struck though lustrous and with a pleasant toning. The Prussian city of Elbing (present day Poland) was under Swedish control 1626-1635 and again 1655-1660, and an extensive minting started in 1628. The City arms with the two crosses were intentionally made to resemble that of Danzig in order to facilitate the acceptance of the coinage in Poland. From the L. E. Bruun Collection.
