India
British India. Victoria Proof Early Restrike Mule 1/2 Rupee 1840-(b&c) PR64 PCGS, Bombay or Calcutta mint, KM-B455, S&W-3.47, Prid-81. Early Restrike. Type II/I Mule. This tremendous Early Proof Restrike of the "divided legend" 1/2 Rupee dated 1840 boasts an incredible lineage. The present near-Gem specimen once resided in three legendary collections; first with Virgil Brand (a famous American collector), then with Pridmore, and most recently with Puddester. For a coin to possess any of these three major collections as provenance would be noteworthy; to claim all three is quite astounding.

Ex. Puddester Collection (Noonan's, October 2024, Lot 968); Pridmore Collection (Glendining Auction, October 1983, Lot 35 (part)); Virgil Brand Collection www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
