Christian VI (1699-1730-1746), Inauguration of the Old Dock in Copenhagen, silver medal, 1739, by Georg Wilhelm Wahl, armoured bust of King r., wearing Sash of the Order of the Elephant, the Badge falling below the truncation, CHRIST VI D G REX DAN NORV VAND GOTH, rev. view of the docks area, with a three masted ship in a dry-dock, CLAVSTRVM NAVALE AB AVGVSTISSIMO MONARCHA CHRISTIANO VI · HAVNIÆ ADORNATVM, 54.5mm (Galster 386; Bruun 15623; Northumberland I, 163), evidence of light tooling to sky on reverse, very fine and very rare. *ex. Official Golden BNTA Anniversary Charity Auction, 14 December 2023 (lot 2). Wahl was a mint-engraver at Copenhagen from 1730, becoming the Mintmaster in 1762, for two years.
