(t) CHINA. Hupeh-Honan-Anwhei Soviet. Dollar, 1932 (in characters). Ch'ilip'ing Mint. NGC EF-45.
L&M-887; K-802; KM-Y-503; WS-1335. Representing just the fourth example of the type that we have offered, and the first in over six years, this impressive "pseudo Russian" Soviet Dollar is so-called on account of the garbled Cyrillic on one side. Purporting to translate to "Chinese Soviet Republic," only the first word (СОВЕТЬ) bears any real resemblance to the intended Russian. In this case, the unfamiliarity with the western-style alphabet mimics the obvious misspellings on the "warlord" issues of the fairly contemporary Memento Dollars. An EXTREMELY RARE offering, especially with such a relatively crisp and clear strike, with nearly all the characters on each side coming through distinctly. In particular, the central portions of each side--the hammer & sickle as well as the "one yuan"--are well executed and vibrant. Lightly toned and charming, with some golden-olive hints around portions of the devices. Adding even more intrigue to this piece is the fact that it stands as the only bilingual issue in the Soviet Chinese series. As such, one that should no doubt generate massive interest and appeal. (t) CHINA. Hupeh-Honan-Anwhei Soviet. Dollar, 1932 (in characters). Chinchiachai Mint. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, VF Details.
L&M-888; K-803; KM-Y-504; WS-1334. Despite some typical striking weakness and noted tooling to remove a few areas of corrosion, this Soviet crown stands as a solid representative of the emission. Of this particular VERY RARE issue, Kann even notes that it "...almost invariably is badly stamped, so that one rarely meets it in perfect condition; usually a part of the design remains invisible." Despite this fact, the hammer & sickle, outline of China, and globe with lines of longitude and latitude remain rather clear and distinct. Mostly lighter gray in the fields, with a somewhat darker nature near the peripheries and around the devices. To view all items from the KL Collection, click here.

(t) CHINA. Szechuan-Shensi Soviet. Dollar, 1934 (in characters). T'ungchiang Mint. PCGS Genuine--Damage, VF Details.
L&M-890A; K-808a; KM-Y-513; WS-1342. Variety with large, solid stars with decorative/curly tips, with "o," and with hammer handle over sickle blade. A VERY RARE and impressive type, this specimen does convey some minor faults, but the overall detail remaining and clarity of design and characters make it an opportunity that won't easily be overlooked. Mostly gunmetal gray throughout, with some darker areas accenting the devices and characters. To view all items from the KL Collection, click here.

(t) CHINA. Szechuan-Shensi Soviet. Dollar, 1934 (in characters). T'ungchiang Mint. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details.
L&M-891; K-808d; KM-Y-513.2; WS-1343. Variety with small, solid stars, with "o," and with hammer handle over sickle blade. A great representative of this particular variant, the present specimen features fairly alluring gunmetal gray surfaces that have begun to reacquire some color and a level of remaining detail that is seemingly greater than the designation would otherwise convey. CHINA. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), ND (1908). Tientsin Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS MS-65.
L&M-11; K-216; KM-Y-14; WS-0029. No doubt an elite representative of a type emanating from the final year in the reign of the Ch'ing Dynasty's penultimate emperor, this exceptionally stunning Gem presents VERY RARE quality. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just four others, this enchanting specimen displays alluring cartwheeling brilliance and luster radiating throughout. Though largely steely gray in hue and without color, some hints of burnished toning are evident throughout--mostly nearer the peripheries. For the connoisseur of the series, this tantalizing example will absolutely generate massive interest and enthusiasm.

Estimate: $50000 - $100000

CHINA. Dollar, Year 21 (1932). Shanghai Mint. PCGS MS-62.
L&M-108; K-622; KM-Y-344; WS-0144. "Birds over Junk" type. Emanating from the first year of the type, in which three birds are seen flying over the junk boat that lends its name to the series, this nearly-Choice crown radiates with an abundance of lustrous brilliance and is largely blast white save for some hints of burnished golden toning around portions of the devices.

Estimate: $10000 - $15000
