A stellar Pattern set showcasing the new series of decimal coinage from Bolivia in presentation-worthy Proof execution. Although the ex-Pittman set that we sold in 2021 contained examples of higher technical grade, the fact that the present set is uniformly Ultra Cameo is significant. The set is matching in appearance; blast white, frosted designs supported by dark and glassy expanses, each coin with a few instances of light toning and occasional haze that likely limited the designations from loftier heights. | Lot description: Poland Republic silver Proof Pattern "Rifle Corps" 5 Zlotych 1934-(w) PR65 Cameo NGC, Warsaw mint, KM-Pn341, Parchimowicz-146b. Mintage: 100. Variety without "PROBA" on obverse. One of only three recognized as Cameo by NGC for the type, while seemingly the first certified by the service of this surprisingly rare Pattern variety. While the Standard Catalog of World Coins provides a lower valuation than the "with PROBA" type, Parchimowicz lacks a photograph and mirrors a paucity of comparables at auction in recent decades. Although the surfaces offer stunning Cameo appeal, we note the presence of pigment daubs scattered throughout, tempering what potentially could have provided for an Ultra Cameo designation.
