Lot description:

PHILIPPINES (under Spain), 8 reales, Ferdinand VII, crowned F.7.o countermark (Type V, 1832-4) on an Argentina (River Plate Provinces), 8 reales, 1815 F, Potosí mint, very rare, PCGS VF details / repaired, c/m XF details. KM-44.2; Cal-1305. Very deep and full countermark in center of arms (flattening the sunface on the other side, which is where the countermark normally appears), contrastingly toned all over, rare and desirable host coin made rarer by the combination, the only evidence of "repair" we can see being a circular discoloration on the rim between LA and PLATA.

Estimate: $2500 - $3750
