Lot description: BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, Philip III, assayer R (curved leg), Grade 1. S-P15; KM-10; Cal-912. 25.38 grams. Remarkable as retaining a spot of coral below the full assayer (almost all Atocha coins were thoroughly conserved), also with bold full king's ordinal III in legend, full but lightly struck shield and cross, toned in crevices. With original Fisher tag and certificate 85A-113721. Recovered from: Atocha, sunk in 1622 west of Key West, Florida Estimate: $1500 - $2250 |
