| Lot description: COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1694 ARCE, very rare, NGC AU 58 (1715 Fleet Shipwreck Label), finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Lasser, Restrepo Plate Coin. Restrepo-M66.18; S-B24; KM-14.2; Cal-898; Fr-4. 6.75 grams. An important reference coin for the fact that it shows not only a very clear and nearly full date (in heavy digits) outside a full cross but also a full, well-centered, and perfectly detailed shield with upper half transposed, with the bottoms of the letters of the assayer's name ARCE visible in legend to left, all on an oblong flan and (in our opinion) choicer grade than assigned but somewhat low in contrast.
