Pattern AR Halfcrown (34mm, 15.22 g, 6h). Blondeau's mint, Drury House, London; im: sun. Dies by T. Simon. Dated 1651. (sun) · THE COMMONWEALTH · OF · ENGLAND ·, coat-of-arms within wreath of palm frond and olive branch / · GOD · WITH · VS · 1651, two coats-of-arms; II VI (mark of value) above. Edge: TRVTH : AND : PEACE : 1651 : (olive branch) : PETRVS : BLONDÆVS : INVENTOR : FECIT · (palm frond). Bull, Silver 63; ESC 444; North 2732.
A few very faint adjustment marks and the slightest of cabinet friction on reverse.
Richly toned with blazing underlying brilliance. Superb EF. An exceptional
example of the earliest milled silver Halfcrown.
