The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. Charles I 'Fine Work' Shillings of the Tower Mint.
Proof AR Shilling (31mm, 6.00 g, 10h). Group D, type 3.1. London mint; im: harp. Struck 1632-1633. Crowned fourth bust left; XII (mark of value) to right / Coat-of-arms; C R flanking. Sharp (HLL) type D1/1 and p. 175 = Brooker 471 (this coin); North 2223; SCBC 2789.
A couple of very light marks behind bust otherwise with an almost machine struck
appearance. Toned with extensive underlying brilliance. EF. Very rare.
