The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. Charles I. 1625-1649.
AR Shilling (31mm, 6.03 g, 5h). Group I, type 1b1. London mint; im: lis. Struck 1625. Crowned bust 2 left, wearing ruff; XII (mark of value) to right / Coat-of-arms; plumes above. Sharp (HLL) type A2/3; Brooker 392 (same rev. die); North 2217; SCBC 2783.
Struck on a very neat and round flan. Slight weakness in centre.
A few very light marks under old bluish tone. Near EF.
Extremely rare and plated accordingly in both the Montagu and Murdoch catalogues.
