The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. Charles I. 1625-1649.
AR Crown (46mm, 30.02 g, 5h). Group IV, type 4. London mint; im: sun. Struck under Parliament, 1645-1646. Charles on horse left, holding raised sword and reins / Coat-of-arms. Cooper, Silver dies XXIV/XXXVII (this coin cited and illustrated); Brooker 272 (same dies); North 2198; SCBC 2761.
Very light doubling on reverse. The obverse particularly bold as a result.
Some light cabinet friction on high points. Rich old tone.
EF. Very rare thus.
