Lot description: The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. James I. 1603-1625. AR Sixpence (26.5mm, 2.97 g, 11h). Second coinage. London mint; im: lis. Dated 1604. Crowned third bust right; VI (mark of value) to left / Coat-of-arms. North 2124; SCBC 2657 (this coin illustrated). Struck with great care on a broad round flan. Deeply toned. Choice EF. Extremely rare thus. Ex Slaney (Part I, Spink 163, 15 May 2003), lot 36 ('undoubtedly a a piece of 'Fine Work', struck on a perfect full round flan... in mint state'); E.C.
