The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. Scotland, James VI. 1567-1625.
AR 'Balance' Half Merk (28.5mm, 4.62 g, 10h). Sixth coinage. Edinburgh mint; im: rosette. Dated 1591. Crowned coat-of-arms; thistles flanking / Balance over sword. Burns 2 (fig. 937); SCBI 58 (Edinburgh) 1494 (same dies); SCBC 5491 (this coin illustrated).
Made round. Some light scratches under old tone. Good VF.
