Dated 1553. MARIA . DEI . GRA. R . SCOTORVM, Crowned bust right / . DA . PACEM . DOMINE . 1553 ., Crowned coat-of-arms; cinquefoils flanking. Murray, Testoons dies E/4, 4 = J. Wingate, Illustrations of the Coinage of Scotland (Glasgow, 1868), pl. XXVI, 11 (this coin); Burns 1 (fig. 780; same obv. die); SCBI 58 (Edinburgh), 284 (same dies); SCBC 5401. Lightly double struck on obverse, a superb full round coin with exceptional detail. Richly toned. Good VF. The finest known example of this delicate portrait issue of the eleven year old queen.
