| Lot description: Montenegro Cattaro. French Occupation Siege Franc 1813 AU55 NGC, KM1, Pag-293, Gad-2317. An incredibly well-made example of this often crude cast-silver Napoleonic obsidional issue. The few fleeting comparable auction records over the past couple of decades pale in comparison to the piece offered here, with much more granular surfaces and weak, inconsistent design detail. This specimen is boldly detailed throughout and with lively, original surfaces. Taking into account both the quality of production and preservation, this example is surely one of the finest of its kind still in existence. Ex.
