The Qajar Dynasty, which ruled Persia from 1794 to 1925, was founded by Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar, who rose to power by overthrowing the Zand Dynasty. The Qajars established their capital in Tehran and faced numerous challenges, including internal unrest, foreign invasions, and struggles for modernization.

Despite efforts at centralization and reform, the Qajar Dynasty's rule was marked by political instability, economic decline, and territorial losses to expanding European powers. However, the dynasty also witnessed significant cultural developments, with Persian literature, art, and architecture flourishing during this period.

The Qajar era saw Persia caught up in the middle of geopolitical rivalries between Tsarist Russia and the British Empire, which sought to exploit Persia's strategic location and resources. This led to several conflicts and treaties that further weakened the Qajar monarchy.

The dynasty's decline accelerated in the 19th century, culminating in the Persian Constitutional Revolution of 1905–1911, which led to the establishment of Iran's first constitution and parliament. The Qajar Dynasty officially came to an end in 1925 with the overthrow of Ahmad Shah Qajar and the establishment of the Pahlavi Dynasty under Reza Shah Pahlavi.
Mohammad Hasan Khan (1715-1759), son of Fath Ali Khan, was born in 1715 in Astarabad. He was chief of the Qoyunlu tribe in Mazandaran and declared himself independent in 1750. In 1759, Mohammad was overthrown by Karim Khan Zand. He was killed on February 12, 1759, in a battle with Zand forces.
