Lot description: Fatimids. temp. al-Qa'im bi-Amr Allah. AH 322-334 / AD 934-946. AV Dinar (19.8mm, 4.09 g, 10h). Without mint-name (struck at Sijilmasa). Dated AH 326 (AD 938/9). Struck in the name of al-Mahdi. Cf. Nicol 138 (dated AH 327). Minor edge marks. Good VF. Extremely rare, this date not recorded by Nicol. Coins struck at Sijilmasa during the regin of al-Qa'im, continued to cite his predecessor, al-Mahdi, until AH 333 (Nicol 136-142). This date was not known to Nicol, although two or three examples have come to light since his Corpus was published in 2006. Estimate: 1500 USD |
