Lot description: 'Abbasid Caliphate. Al-Muttaqi. AH 329-333 / AD 940-944. AV Yamini Dinar (17.8mm, 1.85 g, 6h). San'a mint. Dated AH 332 (AD 943/4). Bernardi 307El (this date not recorded); Album 1060. Near EF, pin-marks in fields on obverse. Excessively rare, apparently an unpublished date. Virtually no 'pure 'Abbasid' dinars (i.e. those which name only the caliph, without any other local ruler) were struck in the year AH 332. The only exceptions, both excessively rare, come from the Arabian mints of Baysh and San'a. Estimate: 2500 USD |
