Lot description:

(t) CHINA. Dollar, ND (1912). Nanking Mint. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details.
L&M-48A; K-600B; KM-Y-318.1; cf. WS-0158 (for regular issue; dot variant not recognized, though the plated example for the type features the dot). High five-pointed stars variety, with dot below ear. A rather RARE "Memento" Dollar variant. The unusual "dot" just below Sun Yat-sen's ear and behind his jaw is quite visible on this example despite some moderate wear. The noted tooling appears across the obverse fields, though this drawback is subdued somewhat by the coin's deep cabinet tone. An intriguing and well-provenanced piece that is likely to attract interest.

Ex: Irving Goodman Collection.

Ex: Superior Galleries; 06/1991, Lot # 850 (with ticket).

Estimate: $1500 - $2500
