Netherlands
Multi-Coin "Bredenhof" ND Shipwreck Clump Genuine NGC (photo-certificate), 63.09gm. Salvaged from the "Bredenhof" (sunk in 1753 off the Mozambique Channel). A clump loaded with VOC Duits, still encrusted as found.

The Bredenhof was A Dutch East Indiaman which perished on June 6th, 1753, near the cape of Good Hope. After hitting a reef in treacherous waters, the Captain ordained that the gold and silver bound to Ceylon was to be dumped in the waters to avoid plundering. Contemporary efforts to salvage the treasure weren't fruitful, the cargo being finally recovered in the early 2000's in the Channel of Mozambique. After a long judicial battle, the South African government was awarded a third part of the treasure, with some of the remaining artifacts auctioned by the salvaging company.
