SPAIN. Entry into Madrid Cast Bronze Proclamation Medal, "1706" (ca. mid-late 18th Century). VIRTUALLY AS CAST.
Forster-738. By Heinrich Müller (Augsburg). Diameter: 42mm. Obverse: Bust of Charles, right, perimeter legend, signature on truncation; Reverse: Beehive and swarm of bees with two queens, perimeter legend above, legend and date in exergue below. The two queen bees represent Philip V and Archduke Charles of Austria (later Emperor Charles VI) and the hive Spain. Both men had valid hereditary claims on the Spanish throne. An attractive medal with dark chestnut surfaces. Some light corrosion on the reverse. Scarce.
