MEXICO. Ferdinand VII/Seminario Tridentino Gilt Bronze Proclamation Medal, 1809. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
Grove-F-32A. By J. Guerrero. Dimensions: 52mm x 55mm. Obverse: Uniformed bust of Ferdinand, left, perimeter legend; Reverse: Female allegory of Fidelity standing left, preceded by a dog, holding oval shield with the bust of the king; radiant Temple of Virtue on hilltop; perimeter legend at right, legend in exergue below. Produced in protest of Ferdinand's deposition by Napoleon in 1808. Ferdinand would return following Napoleon's defeat in 1814. Bright gold surfaces with scattered marks. Broken suspension loop. Historic and attractive.
