Lot description: Islamic Dynasties Ottoman Empire silver Judge's Badge ND UNC, 158.53gm. Approximately 120 x 85mm. Maker's mark by Froment-Meurice (active 1837-1913 Paris). The central enameled black legend in Arabic translates to: "Justice is the prerogative of royalty". Accompanied by the original red box of issue with burgundy plush lining, admits light damage to one corner, with gilt lettering F.R. on the lid and inside marked: Froment-Meurice, 372 rue Saint-Honoré Paris. Of exceptionally high-quality craftmanship and very rare. Ex. Gadoury Auction 2022 (October 2022, Lot 225) This is apparently a Judge's badge of magistrate of the mixed courts of Alexandria.
