In a central circle, 'al-wāthiq / Dhu'l-Qarnayn ibn / ʿAyn al-Dawla' ('Confident [in God], Dhu'l-Qarnayn son of ʿAyn al-Dawla' in Arabic); in the margin, '[O] MEΓAC ΔOΛ[XAΡNAΙΝ]' ('Dhu'l-Qarnayn the Great' in Greek); illegible countermark to the left. Rev. Within a circle, bare-headed bust to right; in the margin, '[I]NΔIKTIωNOC ΔEV[TEPIC]' ('The second indiction' in Greek); illegible countermark to the left. Album -. For host coin: Album 1240. Unlike the silver issues of the Sharaf Khans, this coin has a heptagon with curved lines within a circle on both sides. The standard design was, in fact, a hexagon with straight lines surrounded by floral designs, a design first introduced by Qara Yusuf of Qara Qoyunlu dynasty in AH 814 = 1411/2.
