ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Danishmendids (Malatyah). Dhu'l-Qarnayn, AH 547-557 / AD 1152-1162. Dirham (Bronze, 29 mm, 7.94 g, 4 h). In a central circle, 'al-wāthiq / Dhu'l-Qarnayn ibn / ʿAyn al-Dawla' ('Confident [in God], Dhu'l-Qarnayn son of ʿAyn al-Dawla' in Arabic); in the margin, '[O] MEΓAC ΔOΛ[XAΡNAΙΝ]' ('Dhu'l-Qarnayn the Great' in Greek); illegible countermark to the left. Rev. Within a circle, bare-headed bust to right; in the margin, '[I]NΔIKTIωNOC ΔEV[TEPIC]' ('The second indiction' in Greek); illegible countermark to the left. Album -. For host coin: Album 1240.
