| Lot description: China Xin Dynasty. Wang Mang (AD 7-23) bronze Mother Mold, Shanghai Museum-143, cf. Hartill-9.1 (for coin). 88x86mm. 287.21gm. Used for mass production of clay molds with designs for two Da Quan Wu Shi (Large Coin Fifty) issues, AD 7-14. Lightly encrusted, this piece presents itself both as found--with earthen crevices--but also very close to when made, showing clear and sharp peripheries. A must for advanced Cash Coin collectors.
