| Lot description: China Western Han Dynasty. Wu Zhu terracotta Mother Mold ND (c. 90 BC), Shanghai Museum-73, cf. Hartill-8.9 (for coin); No rim above hole. 113x111mm. 1449.23gm. A surviving corner of a Mother mold used for mass production of clay molds with designs of Wu Zhu coins. Lightly encrusted, this seemingly terracotta mold retains crisp motifs with clear features.
