China
Republic gold Central Mint Bar of 5 Taels ND (1949-1951) MS62 PCGS, Chung King mint, L&M-1072. 70x30mm. 155.04gm. Stamped with the bust of Sun Yat-sen and a depiction of an ancient spade coin (the mark of the Central Mint) on one side, and the weight, fineness, and serial number CD 27752 on the other side. A remarkably fleeting large-size gold bar from this Central Mint series, of enormously greater scarcity than the frequently seen 5 Mace (1/2 Tael bars). Of great rarity as such, and sure to garner ample bidder attention. Mislabeled on the holder as a Taiwanese bank issue.

China
Republic Sun Yat-sen "Lower Five-Pointed Stars" Dollar ND (1912) MS62 PCGS, Nanking mint, KM-Y319, L&M-42, Kann-603 Variety with lower five-pointed stars on reverse. A strong near-Gem example adorned with blazing luster across the surfaces that carry a cream-white tone. This type carries a significant air of romanticism and desire due to it being the original version of the more ubiquitous "Memento" recreation of 1927. Featuring a pleasing eye-appeal at the tilt of the wrist, the present offering possesses an aura of careful preservation and originality.

China
Republic Yuan Shih-kai gold 10 Dollars Year 8 (1919) MS64 PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y330, L&M-1030, Kann-1531, Shih-A4-2, Hsu-16, WS-0059, Wenchao-36 (rarity 3 stars), Shanghai Museum-14, Shi Jiagan Collection-4. Regarded as one of China's rare modern-era gold coins, the 1919 10 Dollar coin at hand marks Financial Minister Tsao Yu-lin's ambitious initiative to reintroduce a gold standard in the country. Despite the noble intent, the endeavor unfortunately fell through. Consequently, an already limited supply of 10 and 20 Dollar coins essentially vanished from circulation, and the surviving pieces often bear the scars of rough handling and poor preservation. However, the coin we have here defies these odds and tells a different story. Displaying the qualities akin to a coin minted from fresh dies, the present offering carries a distinct, even a touch Prooflike surfaces replete with fine die polish. This commendable piece arrives on the market having undergone private purchase several decades ago. Preserved by a dedicated single owner over the years, it finally takes its turn under the spotlight. The near-absolute paucity of significantly detracting marks and the stately, practically untouched and satiny finish serve as evidence of diligent care. Per the current PCGS census records, this coin shares its technical grade with only one other and is surpassed by a lone example. It is safe to conclude the selection at hand certainly stands with the finest of its kind extant, vastly outshining the specimen in the famed Norman Jacobs Collection, which only managed an AU58 certificate. We further note this treasure is conditionally superior to the MS63 PCGS example from the illustrious Tony Ma Collection we sold in July 2022, which realized $162,000. As such, this handsome representative of numismatic artistry is well-suited for an elite-tier cabinet and warrants advanced consideration for a premium bid from discerning collectors.

China
Republic Yuan Shih-kai silver Pattern Dollar Year 3 (1914) MS64 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Pn32, L&M-72, Kann-643, WS-0166, Wenchao-858 (rarity 3 stars). By Luigi Giorgi. A clear product from the skilled hand of Tientsin mint engraver Luigi Giorgi, featuring a sensitively rendered and more humanistic depiction similar to contemporary banknotes and photographs of Yuan Shih-kai in his attempt at monetary reform. Each detail is painstakingly worked and lights ablaze with mottled lavender hues upon illumination, lending to the near-Gem assignment and superior visual character. To date, only a single other example has been graded similarly across both NGC and PCGS, the Pinnacle example ranking as a SP58, while the Jacobs piece certified as an MS62. Although PCGS has elected to deem all of these Pattern issues as Specimens while NGC designates them as Mint State, we would note that no real difference exists in the finish. Illustriously provenanced and very difficult to imagine being exceeded any time soon, we can hardly think of a more ideal target for even the most discerning of collectors.

Large gold ingot 77, 2274 grams, marked with fineness XVII (17K), foundry/assayer cartouche SEBATN / ESPANOL, ex-Atocha (1622), ex-Christie's (1988). 8-3/4" x 1-1/2" x 3/4". Large shipwreck gold bars, especially when complete and uncut like the present piece, are rare and command a premium in this age of trophy collecting with unlimited spending power. They are also an investment in gold, with high intrinsic value that has continued to rise in recent years. For the investment-savvy collector of means, therefore, we present this well-marked and impressively large ingot as one of the top trophies available from the Atocha shipwreck. Its shape is a "riel" (strap), as opposed to the common narrow "finger" bars designed to be easily cut into pieces to make "oro corriente," although a profusion of stamps means this big ingot was probably meant for dividing as well. The cast surface is slightly rugged, as made, and the color is a nice even yellow. The sides and bottom have no markings except for the Treasure Salvors' number 77 stamped on the bottom, but the top is tattooed with no less than eight partial tax stamps (with circular borders of dots and some legend lettering including king's ordinal III and retrograde S in PHILIPPVS and HISPANIARVM) and five fineness markings, each consisting of XVII in an incuse box. Best of all, near the center is the foundry/assayer mark SEBATN/ESPANOL, which is currently unattributed. Usually such markings on these bars refer to mining regions in Colombia, but in this case it might just be an assayer name, especially considering the bar's unusual size and shape. In any event, it is one of the rarest marks seen, with only two examples known to us, the other being the heaviest gold bar of all from this wreck. As usual, the assayer's "bite" (where metal was removed for testing before applying the fineness marks) was taken from one corner, apparently where a bubble in the metal created a small natural void anyway. As one of the largest bars to hit the market in decades, this lot presents a near-unique opportunity to own one of the Atocha's top treasures. From the Atocha (1622), with original Fisher photo-certificate 85A-GB077, pedigreed to the Christie's Atocha auction of June 1988 (lot 90).

Estimate: $200000 - $400000
