Lot description: German States Silesia. Ferdinand II Uniface Klippe 6 Taler 1621 MS63 NGC, Breslau mint, KM27, Dav-Unl., Maillet- pg. 405 Pl. CII, 4. 23.06gm. The Bohemian Revolt, first of several anti-Habsburg rebellions which lead to the Thirty Years' War, was met with defeat in 1620. Forced to make peace, the participating Silesian insurgents paid their dues to the Holy Roman Empire by striking siege multiple Talers in the now-Polish city of Glogau. The present example is part of that emergency emission and represents a seemingly scarcer denomination than its 3 Taler counterpart. The central stamp is flanked at the Klippe's corners by two smaller stamps, 4/M and ZP, monograms for the mint officials Matthaus Jachtmann and Zacharias Petzold. Remarkably well preserved considering the historical context, bearing a charming cabinet-tone with cobalt and teal sparkling from underneath the Taler stamp. Standing as the finest graded by NGC. https://coins.ha.com/itm/german-states/german-states-silesia-ferdinand-ii-uniface-klippe-6-taler-1621-ms63-ngc-/a/3102-31091.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchives-WorldCoins-3102-11022022 HID02906262019 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved Estimate: 8000-9000 USD | ![]() |
