Charles I and Henrietta Maria Royalist Supporters Silver Badge, cast, chased and gilt, c.1649, by T.Rawlins, CAROLVS. D.G. MAG. BR...TAN. FRAN. ET. FRAN. ET. HIB. REX. FI.D, crowned and draped bust right, rev. HENRETTA. MARIA. D.G. MAG. BRITAN. FRAN. ET. HIB. REG., draped bust left, 33mm x 44mm, 13.18g (Eimer 166b; MI.I 355/216; Farguhar 1905/263), rub to high points and cleaned, otherwise bold very fine and with suspension loop.
More than forty Royalist badges, produced between 1649-1660, commemorate the Stuart family. They were worn by loyalists and occur with suspension loops. Some were gilt; such as this example.
