MOESIA INFERIOR, Marcianopolis. Philip II. As Caesar, AD 244-247. Æ Pentassarion (26mm, 12.44 g, 1h). Prastina Messalinus, legatus consularis. Confronted busts of Philip II right, bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed, and Serapis left, draped and wearing calathus / Hermes leaning to left, head right, with right foot on ram's head, drapery on knee; turtle below, E (mark of value) and tree stump to right. H&J, Marcianopolis; Varbanov 2107; AMNG I 1209. VF, green patina. Scarce and artistic type.
