THRACE, Perinthus. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Medallion (39mm, 30.73 g, 2h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Zeus enthroned left, holding phiale and scepter; at feet, eagle standing facing, head right, with wings displayed; around, twelve constellations of the Zodiac. Schönert, Perinthos 859 (same dies); Varbanov 550 (same dies as illustration). Fine, areas of gray and brown patina, pitted surfaces, small flan crack. Extremely rare.
