C. Sulpicius C.f. Galba

Uncia 106, Æ 1.92 g. Pegasus flying r. Rev. C·SVLP / C· within wreath. Babelon –. Sydenham –.
Crawford –.Apparently unique and unrecorded. Brown tone and very fine

Ex CNG sale 55, 2000, 1031 (misdescribed).
CNG describes the animal on the obverse of this uncia as a griffin, whereas it is easy to discern from the tail that we are dealing with a pegasus.
Another rare occurrence of an entirely new type on a Republican coin. (RBW)
