Lot description:


MYSIA, Cyzicus. Gallienus. AD 253-268. Æ (27mm, 9.20 g, 6h). Laureate and draped bust right / Dionysus seated left, offering wine from cantharus to panther which leans against knee and leaning on upturned oenochoe; grape vine behind. Cf. SNG France 865 (for obv. die); CNG E-Auction 197, lot 69 (same dies). EF, brown patina, minor weak strike in obverse legend. Exceptional late provincial portrait.
