Lot description:

JUDAEA, Neapolis. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ (24mm, 10.76 g, 1h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Mt. Gerizim surmounted by a temple and altar; stairway to temple and colonnade below mountain. RPC VI Online 8941. Earthen brown green patina, slight roughness, obverse flan flaw, reverse slightly off center. Near VF.

The reverse legend in the exergue appears to be upside down, similar to RPC 8907 and Sofaer 91 (only one recorded in RPC) but it has a different obverse, that of RPC 8908 and Sofaer 92. It is possible that this is an unrecorded variety but the exergue isn't clear enough to be certain.

Estimate: 100 USD
