| Lot description: ROMAN COINS MÜNZEN DER RÖMISCHEN KAISERZEIT Antoninus III. Caracalla, 198-217. AR-Tetradrachme, 213/217, Tyros (Phoenicia); 12,01 g. Drapierte Büste r. mit Lorbeerkranz//Adler steht v. v., Kopf l., mit Kranz im Schnabel, unten Purpurschnecke. Prieur 1551. Feine Tönung, fast vorzüglich Erworben im September 2019 bei der Firma Dionysos Numismatik, Hamburg. Tyros war das Zentrum der Purpurgewinnung. Man benötigte etwa 8.000 Pupurschnecken (Murex trunculus), um ein Gramm des extrem teuren Farbstoffes zu herzustellen. Heute liegt der Preis für ein Gramm Purpur um 2.000 Euro. Estimate: 75 EUR |  |
