| Lot description: ROMAN COINS MÜNZEN DER RÖMISCHEN KAISERZEIT Antoninus III. Caracalla, 198-217. AR-Tetradrachme, 213/217, Tyros (Phoenicia); 14,4 g. Kopf r. mit Lorbeerkranz über Adler, davor Keule//Melqartkopf r. mit Lorbeerkranz. Prieur 1543. R Feine Tönung, fast sehr schön/sehr schön Erworben im Mai 2019 bei der Firma Dionysos Numismatik, Hamburg. Tyros war das Zentrum der Purpurgewinnung. Man benötigte etwa 8.000 Pupurschnecken (Murex trunculus), um ein Gramm des extrem teuren Farbstoffes herzustellen. Heute liegt der Preis für ein Gramm Purpur um 2.000 Euro. Estimate: 75 EUR |  |
