PHRYGIA, Midaeum. Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ (20mm, 13.61 g, 7h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Herakles standing facing, head left, leaning on club to left, holding infant Telephus and lion's skin in right; to right, stag standing right, looking left. von Aulock, Phrygiens 815-6; RPC VI Online 5731. Brown patina with earthen deposits, some obverse roughness. Near VF. Extremely rare, one of three known and the only example in private hands.
