Lot description:

BITHYNIA, Heraclaea Pontica(?). Trajan. AD 98-117. Æ (15mm, 2.66 g, 7h). AYT K NE[P TPAIA]NOC API CE, laureate head right / Cornucopia on globe. Cf. RPC III 6551 and 6551A (obv. legend). Dark brown patina, deposits, cleaning scratches. Good Fine. Extremely rare, unpublished.

RPC lists four specimens of RPC 6551 and one of 6551A, but lists both region and mint as uncertain and notes that it is probably Bithynian in origin. The obverse legend on 6551A is only used at Heraclaea Pontica, this coin is slightly different than the other known types, but is similar enough to place it in Bithynia.

Estimate: 100 USD
