SELEUCIS and PIERIA, Antioch. Otacilia Severa. Augusta, AD 244-249. BI Tetradrachm (27.5mm, 10.23 g, 6h). Struck AD 244. Draped bust left, wearing stephane, set on crescent below bust / Eagle standing facing on palm frond, head left and tail right, with wings displayed, holding wreath in beak; S C in exergue. McAlee 1087b; RPC VIII Online 29003; Prieur 326. Toned, a couple of obverse scratches. Good VF. Rare.

RPC does not distinguish between the bust types with the crescent set behind or below the bust. However, McAlee notes: (a) Crescent behind bust (V. Rare), (b) Crescent below bust (Ex. Rare). Of the seven specimens recorded by RPC, only three have the crescent below the bust, like on the coin being offered here.
