BITHYNIA, Nicomedia. Julia Mamaea. Augusta, AD 222-235. Æ Chalkous (16.5mm, 2.68 g, 6h). IOYΛIA MAMAIA AYΓOY, diademed and draped bust right / NIKOMHΔЄΩN ΔIⳞ NЄΩKOPΩN, galley right with three oarsmen. Unpublished in the standard references. Dark brown patina with earthen deposits, cleaning scratches. Near VF. Very rare.

This obverse legend is known for Nicaea but previously unrecorded at Nicomedia. This denomination also appears to be previously unknown for Julia Mamaea and is very rare at this city.
