MACEDON. Koinon of Macedon. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 25 mm, 12.73 g, 1 h), Beroea, time of Gordian III, 238-244. AΛЄΞANΔPOY Diademed and cuirassed bust of Alexander 'the Great' to right, cuirass decorated with eagle standing facing, head to left. Rev. KOINON MAKЄΔONΩN B NЄ Alexander riding Bukephalos to right, holding spear in his right hand. AMNG III/1, -, cf. 652-3 (differing bust). RPC VII.2 online -. An extremely rare variety. Light adjustment marks on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
