AYT KAI ΠO ΛI ΓAΛΛIHNO CЄB Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gallienus to right, seen from behind; below, eagle standing right with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; before, [IA] (mark of value); to right, countermark: Є within circular incuse. Rev. CIΔHTΩN NЄΩKOPΩN Athena standing front, head to right, holding spear in her right hand and extending her left; at feet to right, shield; in field to left, pomegranate on branch. SNG Paris -. SNG PFPS 827. For countermark, 805. A beautiful and well struck piece with a lovely brown patina. Minor area of weakness on the reverse from countermarking, otherwise, good very fine.
