MACEDON. Edessa. Maximus, Caesar, 236-238. Diassarion (Bronze, 24.5 mm, 10.03 g, 7 h). ΙΟΥΛ ΜΑΞΙΜΟC KAICAP Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus to right. Rev. EΔEC-C-EΩΝ Roma seated left on cuirass, holding palladium in her extended right hand, being crowned by the Tyche of Edessa standing left behind, holding scepter. Hristova & Chekov 1. Varbanov 3653. Papaefthymiou, Maximus, 2 (D1/R1). Dark brown patina with hard green deposits; very rare type, apparently only two examples recorded by Papaefthymiou; none available in the market since early 2000s. Very fine.
